Sonja is hosting a share-a-dish potluck at her house on Saturday, May 10th at 6pm.  All students, friends, and instructors are welcome.  Bring some great “summery” foods to share, and enjoy a great time! Dance Connect is proud to sponsor another Strictly Swing event at the senior center! There is an east coast swing class taught by Nelle and Bobby from 7-8pm followed by social dancing from 8-11pm. Cost is $5

Strictly Swing means just that, just Swing dancing. But what is Swing dancing? Lindy Hop was the original Swing dance back in the 1930’s done to big band jazz music. As the music changed and evolved over time so did the dancing. Today we have East Coast Swing (single and triple step), West Coast Swing, and several unique styles of Lindy Hop. Many of the rhythms and patterns used in each style overlap but each style has a unique feeling and flavor of music that it is danced to.

Come out for a fun night of Swing dancing and experience the wide variety of styles and music that make up Swing!

Summer is a great time to get OUTSIDE in Alaska, so we suspend our activities during the summer. We will keep you up to date with all the dance-related activities going on during the summer and start getting our Fall schedule put together.

We have had a great year and we want to thank all the great dancers and friends that we have made in the last year. Have a great summer!

• Social Dance Night

• Cha Cha Lessons
  Jeanette will be teaching cha cha on Tuesday evenings in May and probably into June. 7:30 to 9:00pm. You will learn cha cha basics that you can follow or lead on the social dance floor as well as choreographed routines to specific pieces of music. No prior round dance experience or regular partner is necessary. Come and give it a try. She has extended the introductory price of $3.00 to May 13th price.

• Dance at the Senior Center

  Playing all your favorite music by request - waltz, swing, cha cha and more!
  Cost is only $5.
  Punch provided.Music to include hustle, night club, tango, rumba, foxtrot, salsa and more!

• Alaska Dance Group Weekend Workshop
  Come join Alaska Dance Group (ADG) in welcoming long-time Alaskan, Jerry Morrison back to Alaska with a 3-day dance workshop.  The workshop weekend is May 9, 10 and 11 at the Fred Astaire studio at 1300 E. 68th Avenue.  As always there will be a dance on Saturday, May 10 from 8:30 pm till 11:00 pm.  Please check the website at www.akdance.com for schedule and pricing.  Jerry taught many of the local dance instructors how to dance and is well-known for inspiring beginning dancers as well as preparing Anchorage dancers for regional and national competitions.  He will be teaching classes in Country Western 2 step, Shag, Cha-Cha, Night Club 2-step and West Coast Swing
• 12th Annual AURORA BALL
